Thirty-three Pakistani members of Taliban killed in Afghanistan's Ghazni

Thirty-three Pakistani members of the Taliban were killed in an operation in Afghanistan's central-eastern Ghazni province last night, officials said Tuesday.

They were among 42 Taliban insurgents who were killed in a joint operation by Afghan Special Forces and international forces in Sardi area of Andar district, the provincial governor’s office said in a statement.

Separately, Afghan intelligence forces seized 600kg explosives, 1,500kg drugs, 10 vehicles and weapons during a raid in Garmser district of southern Helmand province, the National Directorate of Security said in a statement.

In eastern Khost province, Afghan forces arrested three militants who were seeking to carry out coordinated attack in the provincial capital, said Nasrat Rahimi, a spokesman for Interior Ministry.

Military uniforms, rockets, silencer guns and hand-grenades were also seized during the raid, he said.
