The Russian embassy in Kabul has been announcing in a newsrelease that its cooperation in upgrading and repairing the turbines of the 1st 3rd Naghlo power dam has caused Kabul to be relieved of its dependence on imported electricity. On the basis of the Russian embassy newsletter in Kabul, the Naghlu power dam was established in the 60’s by former Soviet specialists, and in 2006, the reconstruction of the parts of this dam was completed with the technical assistance of Russian companies and the financial assistance of the world bank.

The newsletter added that the Russian company “Inter Rao Engineering” completed the restoration of Turbines 1 and 3 of Naghlu at the end of 2018, which resulted in an increase in power capacity of this station to 100 megawatts. According to the Russian embassy in Kabul, this has significantly reduced the dependence of Kabul on imported electricity.
