The United States Department of Justice delivered to officials in the United Kingdom a formal extradition request for Julian Paul Assange.

Assange, who is currently being detained in the UK, has been indicted by the Justice Department on 18 counts for conspiring to hack into a government computer and for violating the Espionage Act.

According to the British official, they have now received a formal request for extraditing Assange to the United States.
