Authorities predict 20 percent increase in wheat harvest in Kunduz province

The authorities predict a 20 percent increase in wheat production in northern Kunduz province.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) announced earlier on Wednesday that the harvest process of wheat in Kunduz is underway.

According

to a statement released by MAIL, the estimates of the ministry indicate that

the wheat harvest will increase by 20 percent during the current year.

The

statement further added that the farmers had cultivate wheat crops in 178,804

acres of land last year.

However,

the ministry said the farmers have cultivated 192,925 acres of land with crops

this year.

The

ministry also added that improvised seeds, on time cultivation, proper use of

fertilizers, good weather, increase in rains, technical and professional

advices to farmers and fight against natural disasters could result to an

increase in wheat harvest this year.

According

to Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) that wheat harvest

will increase by 20 percent this year in Kunduz despite the flash floods and

storms inflicted losses on local farmers.
