Ghani Meets Participants of Intra-Afghan Dialogue at ARG

KABUL (The Killid) – Afghan President Ashraf Ghani met with a number of participants, who attended the intra-Afghan Dialogue earlier this week, at Presidential Palace Wednesday.

According to the statement by ARG, the participants expressed optimism saying the dialogues in Qatar can actually pave the way for a direct talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban for a political settlement in the country.

Meanwhile, Ghani said in the statement the talks were a good beginning, where the expectation of Afghan people were addressed.

He further said the only reasonable way of promoting peace is Taliban to enter a direct dialogue with the Afghan government.

The statement stated Ghani as saying the government is ready to talks with the Taliban; although the resolution as outcome of the intra-Afghan dialogue not solid, but the government honors it.

It comes following the intra-Afghan dialogue held on July 7-8 in Doha, Qatar, where some 50 delegates from Afghanistan and 17 Taliban representatives have attended the two-day conference on Afghan peace.
