Eid ul-Adha is of great value to the people of Afghanistan; thus they spend many days preparing for this holiday.

On the day of Eid al-Adha, Afghans have their own custom and tradition. After the Eid prayers, they hug and go each other's home to celebrate such a day of bliss, as they dispel past resentments by cherishing togetherness. Meanwhile, kids and teenagers deck out special cloths and have fun time while meeting families and friends.

Eid al-Adha or Eid Qurban is the second of two Islamic holidays celebrated worldwide each year, and considered the holier of the two. It honors the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God’s command. But, before Abraham could sacrifice his son, God provided a lamb to sacrifice instead. In commemoration of this intervention, an animal is sacrificed and divided into three parts. One share is given to the poor and needy, another is kept for home, and the third is given to relatives.
