3 Suicide Bombing Thwarted in Mazar-e-Sharif

(TKG) ─ Local officials in Balkh province said in a press conference Tuesday [January 14, 2020] that a suicide bomber has been detained in Mazar-e-Sharif. It was quoted by the officials in Balkh province as saying, the detainee was named Abdul Mateen and was one of the Taliban’s mastermind of suicide bombing in Mazar-e-Sharif, Balkh. According to Munir Ahmad Farhad, Balkh governor’s spokesperson, the suspect was the mastermind of last week’s explosion near a gas station in the 10th district of Mazar-e-Sharif that left one killed and three others injured. Mr. Farhad added that the suspect has confessed his guilt to the police that he had planned to carry out three suicide attacks in Mazar-e-Sharif. So far, at least nine suspects have been arrested in this province, officials further added. According to the officials, different types of weapons including ammunition, explosives, military uniforms, a vehicle and other military equipment have been seized.
