Taliban Leader Agrees to Reduction of Violence

(TKG) ─ According to media as reporting, the Taliban leader Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada has agreed to a 7 day reduction of violence in Afghanistan.   Media reported, sources familiar with the process have talked on a condition of anonymity that the Taliban Leader Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada has agreed to reduce violence in major cities of Afghanistan on the basis of US-Taliban peace agreement, adding that the agreement must include foreign troops withdrawal. According to the sources, U.S. is to sign the agreement during these seven days, adding that if the reduction of violence is implemented, the Taliban will end to their guerrilla attacks across Afghanistan. In the meantime, Dr. Hamdullah Mohib, Afghanistan's National Security Adviser, underscored on Wednesday [January 14, 2020] at the Raisina Dialogue multilateral conference in New Delhi, as saying that "Peace for our people means the end of violence; this is why we insist that a ceasefire is necessary to create a conducive environment for talks."
