Denmark has pledged 3 million US dollars in aid to support tens of thousands of farmers in Afghanistan.

The assistance is expected to be delivered to more than 129,000 farmers who have been affected by natural disasters over the last two years.

The assistance includes refined seeds, chemical fertilizers as well as training programs on proper methods of farming so that farmers become self-reliant.

The plan will be implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and Afghan Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock in Badakhshan, Daikundi, Ghor and Uruzgan provinces.

Danish Ambassador Michael Lund Jeppesen said that food insecurity and livelihood crisis has affected millions of Afghans.

RajendraKumar Aryal, FOA representative in Afghanistan, said that the Danish assistance would help improve living condition of farmers in five Afghan provinces.

More than 10 million people are living in a state of severe acute food insecurity in Afghanistan, according to UN.
