(TKG) — The Pakistani authorities on Monday [January 27, 2020] arrested Manzoor Pashteen, the leader of a civil rights movement, media reported. The leader, Manzoor Ahmad Pashteen, was arrested in the early hours of Monday morning [January 27, 2020] on five separate charges, including criminal conspiracy, after giving a speech that, according to officials, was against the Constitution and the state.  He was arrested in Peshawar, the capital of the northwestern province of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, his colleagues told media. Mr. Pashteen and his movement, known by the initials P.T.M., have presented one of the most influential challenges to the military's dominance of Pakistan as it has cracked down on minorities, journalists and other critics in recent years. A court in Peshawar on Monday gave the Pakistani Pashteen 14 days of pretrial detention, the local news media reported. This is the first time Mr. Pashteen was arrested for nearly two years challenging the country's powerful security forces by demanding they will be held accountable for extrajudicial killings and kidnappings.       The post Manzoor Pashteen Arrested: Pakistani Media appeared first on The Killid Group.
