(TKG) − The novel coronavirus has killed more than 1,100 people and infected over 45,000 people worldwide; the vast majority of cases are in mainland China, reports said on Wednesday, February 12. The death toll of China’s coronavirus outbreak continued to climb on Wednesday as deaths in mainland China now stand at 1,113 with the number of confirmed cases nationwide totaling more than 45,000, news agencies reported. So far, two deaths have been recorded outside mainland China – one in Hong Kong and one in the Philippines. At least 25 countries have confirmed cases and several nations have evacuated their citizens from Hubei. Recently, Iran’s daily newspaper reported without quoting any sources that an Iranian woman has died of a suspected coronavirus infection. In Afghanistan, however, no cases of coronavirus were confirmed; however, Afghan students in Chinese central city of Wuhan, where the virus is believed to have been emerged, has sought the Afghan government's urgent assistance, saying they are in a dire situation due to a strict quarantine over the past two weeks. The spokesperson of the Afghan Ministry of Public Health, however, said on Tuesday that they are preparing to evacuate the students from Wuhan, Hubei.
