Sarwar Danesh Attends International Conference on 40 Years of Hosting Afghan Refugees in Pakistan

(TKG) − Pakistan's government in collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees hosted the “International Conference on 40 Years of Hosting Afghan Refugees: A New Partnership for Solidarity” today February 17, in Islamabad, media reported. The conference was held today in Islamabad that was inaugurated by Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, ministers, and senior officials from around 20 countries also attended the event. Sarwar Danesh, Afghanistan’s second vice president, was also one of the attendees in the conference that, in his remarks, accused Pakistan of allowing the Taliban to recruit new fighters from Afghan refugee camps in Pakistan. Adding to his remarks, the second vice president said that the issue of immigrants in other countries should not be politicized and the subjects to pressure over the Afghan government. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan said in response to Mr. Danesh’s remarks on peace process that his country is no longer a militant safe haven, and said his administration fully supports the Afghan peace process.
