Over 40 worshipers killed and injured in Afghanistan mosque attacks during Ramadan

More than 40 worshipers have been killed and injured in attacks on mosques in Afghanistan during the month of Ramadan.

On Tuesday, two mosques were attacked by gunmen in Parwan and Khost provinces, as a result of which 14 people were killed.

In Parwan, 11 worshipers were killed and six others were wounded while they were breaking their fast in a mosque in Khalazayee area.

A security source told 1TV that the shooting was carried out by individuals linked to Taliban commander Lutfullah and that it happened due to his differences with a preacher in the area over his adherence to salafism.The Taliban have denied involvement in the attack.

On Wednesday, angry residents carrying bodies of the victims protested in front of the provincial governor's office in Charikar, calling on the government to identify perpetrators of the attack.

The Khost mosque attack killed three people and wounded one.

At least four attacks have targeted mosques since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.

Two weeks ago, 21 people were wounded mosque attack in Patika.

In Kabul too, an imam was killed in a mosque in PD 7.
