Coronavirus: Infection Toll Nears 16,000 as Afghanistan Records 545 Additional Confirmed Cases

According to the data provided by the Afghan public health ministry, within the last 24 hours, 545 cases of infection were recorded in different provinces of Afghanistan, bringing the total case count to 15,750 in the country. Some 117 cases of infection were recorded in Herat, while Paktia with 92, Kabul with 66 and Nangarhar with 50 cases recorded the highest number of infections in the last 24 hours, a data by the health ministry indicated. The country’s toll of fatalities from coronavirus reached 265 as eight more patients lost their lives.. The total recoveries, however, hit 1,428 as recently 100 patients having been contracted with illness recovered back. Recently, the some provinces have lifted lockdown restrictions, but the ministry of health has constantly warned easing lockdowns can lead to a health disaster.
