There has been no convincing response by the Taliban on government's peace offer, Afghanistan's Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah said Monday.

The proposals for peace with the Taliban had been announced by President Ashraf Ghani during second meeting of Kabul Process late last month.

Addressing the regular ministerial council meeting, Abdullah said that that the government has not received any positive response from the group.

He said that the group has continued carrying out attacks in Kabul and other provinces of the country.

Referring to political tensions in the country, Abdullah hoped that the tensions will end before New Year next week.

“We are very happy during the last days of the year as issues pertaining to Balkh province are being resolved,” Abdullah said.

Ata Mohammad Noor was dismissed by the president as the governor of Balkh province in December, but he has refused to leave office.

Noor has issued several demands to central government in turn for his dismissal.
