Ghani, Noor agree on Rahguzar as new Balkh governor

13 Mar 2018 1TV News

Mohammad Ishaq Rahguzar will take office as new governor of northern Balkh province, sources told 1TV Tuesday.

Raguzar is close to Ata Mohammad Noor who was dismissed by President Ashraf Ghani as the governor of Balkh province three months ago.

Mohammad Dawood was introduced as his successor, but Noor protested the decision and refused to leave office.

Recently, a government delegation involving head of National Directorate of Security, Masoom Stanikzai, held talks with Noor in Balkh.

A government official told 1TV on condition of anonymity that Mohammad Ishaq Rahguzar has been picked for Balk governorship.

Raguzar will be introduced by the president to Balkh residents soon, according to the official.

Balkh provincial council chief also said that Noor is close to deal with the government, but he said that any decision in this regard relates to Jamiat-i-Islami leadership council.

Members of the council told 1TV on condition of anonymity that the council opposes recent development in government-Noor talks.

A delegation of Jamiat-i-Islami is expected to meet with Noor tomorrow Wednesday.
