The 97th friendship ceremony of Afghanistan and Turkey celebrated in Istanbul

Yash News Agency: The 97th Friendship anniversary ceremony between Turkey and Afghanistan hosted by the Embassy and Consulate General of Afghanistan on Friday (16th March) in Istanbul, with the presence of officials from both countries. Turkey and Afghanistan have a lot of common histories. One of the important approaches of the Turkish government and nation was that the Turkish youth who were with Mujahideen to fight against the Red Army returned to Turkey after neutralization of the Soviet Union in Afghanistan and, like the citizens of some countries, didn’t fight alongside extremists in inter-party wars.  “Turkey, despite its impressive advances in various fields, has not abandoned its friendship with Afghanistan and in recent years, provided financial support and numerous contributions to health and education. Military training is also the old legacy of Turks in Afghanistan, which has been continuing for many years,” Sayed Jan said. He also thanked from the Turkish government’s cooperation in Afghanistan, adding that the role of Turkey is also apparent through the TICA agency. Turkish companies are actively involved in the reconstruction of Afghanistan, despite adverse conditions and security threats in Afghanistan. The country’s top diplomat announced the presence of 65,000 Afghan refugees in Turkey and specifying: “Many businessmen, political and cultural elites are living in Turkey.” Mr. Seyed Jan, at the end of his speech, expressed hope that Afghan people can achieve peace and stability with the efforts of the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his active role.  “Afghanistan is a plantain and will grow up over time. All the people of Afghanistan will come together under this plantain and will live in peace,” said Hussain Koja Bek. He stressed that Turkey is ready to share its wealth with the Afghan people and will stay with Afghanistan. “The interests and culture of the two countries are one and we want to continue our friendship and brotherhood forever,” said Qodratullah Zaki, a representative from the Takhar people in the House of Representatives and chairman of the Turkish-Afghan Parliamentary Friendship Group. Thousands of Afghan students are studying in Turkey. Turkey is one of the first countries which entered the international community after the rebuilding of Afghanistan and has provided our people decent services so far. The Friendship agreement between Turkey and Afghanistan was signed on March 1, 1921, by the King of Afghanistan, Amanullah Khan, and the founder of the Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.
