Explosion leaves dozens of civilian casualties in Helmand

An explosion went off in Afghanistan's southern Helmand province on Monday, killing at least 10 civilians, sources said.

Thirty-five more were wounded in the blast which happened in Sangin district.

Omar Zwak, a spokesman for provincial governor, confirmed to 1TV that an explosion happened in Sangin district, without providing details.

Taliban spokesman Yosuf Ahmadi said that the casualties happened due to shelling by government forces.
