Taliban reopen schools in Ghazni

29 Jun 2020 1TV News

Taliban militants have forced reopening of schools in areas under theit control in central-eastern Ghazni province.

This comes as the government extended closure of schools across the country last month until September as coronavirus cases continued to rise.

Ghazni's provincial council members said that the Taliban have already reopened schools in areas under their control for the past 10 days.

They said that there are no measures in place in schools to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The Taliban fully control seven districts in Ghazni while four others are under their partial control.

Nawa, Ajristan, Giro, Waghez, Zanakhan, Andar and Khogyani are districts which the Taliban fully control.

The provincial council warned that coronavirus case will rise if the problem is not addressed.

The Ministry of Education said that it had not received any report suggesting reopening of schools in Taliban-controlled areas.

Taliban have yet to make comment.
