Afghan President Ashraf Ghani is set to inaugurate two regional and international conferences on peace via video link next week, the country's foreign ministry said on Thursday.

The meetings are expected to strengthen regional and international consensus on immediate start of intra-Afghan negotiations and ceasefire, Gran Hewad, a spokesman for Afghan Foreign Ministry, said at a press conference.

The first meeting, scheduled for Monday, will be held with the participation of representatives of around 20 regional countries, Afghanistan’s strategic partners and the United Nations, he said.

The second meeting, scheduled for Thursday, will be held with the participation of representatives of 19 major and donor countries.

Both the meetings will be chaired by Afghan Acting Foreign Minister Haneef Atmar.

Hewad added that third trilateral dialogue between Afghanistan, Pakistan and China will be held on Tuesday.

The meeting, which will be attended by deputy foreign ministers of the three countries, is expected to strengthen political, security and economic cooperation, he said.
