Afghanistan Records 348 New COVID-19 Cases

In the last 24 hours, 348 more people tested positive for the highly contagious coronavirus, and seven additional people have died after contracting it, a tally by the Afghan health ministry indicated. The capital Kabul saw the largest increase in cases with 164 new positive tests within the last 24 hours, whereas one additional patient died of the illness recently. Herat province remains a second coronavirus hotspot behind Kabul, where the health ministry reported an additional 28 cases in the past 24 hours. The rest 156 new lab-confirmed cases were registered in 17 provinces of the country. Another statistic has also indicated a rise: the number of patients recovered from the illness. According to health ministry data, 1,833 additional patients recovered from the novel coronavirus, bringing the toll to 19,164.
