In a short span, the leg-spinner rose to fame and his bowling variations led him to become one of the best in the modern era. Not a big turner of the ball, Rashid effectively uses google and pace to baffle the batsmen. He often has been compared with former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi, who also used to bowl with a significant amount of pace. Rashid is undoubtedly a central figure in Afghanistan cricket at the moment. Meanwhile, the 21-year-old, in an interview with Azadi Radio, has revealed that he is planning to get married after Afghanistan lift the World Cup. “I will get engaged & married once Afghanistan win the cricket world,” said Rashid, who currently is ranked No.1 in ICC T20I bowlers rankings with 749 points. Rashid Khan was set to don SRH jersey in IPL 2020 Rashid was last seen in action in the T20I series against Ireland in March, where the Afghans were successful in clinching the series. Rashid scalped five wickets in three T20Is against the Irish side. In a career spanning over 7 Tests, 67 ODIs and 48 T20Is, Rashid has picked over 200 wickets for Afghanistan. Rashid, due to his unique bowling traits, also left an instant impact in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2017 IPL auction for a sum of INR 4 crores and since then, he has been an indispensable part of the franchise. In his debut IPL season, Rashid scalped 17 wickets and finished as sixth-highest wicket-taker. In 46 matches of his IPL career, Rashid has plucked 55 wickets with best figures of 3/19. The prolific leg-spinner was all set to don the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) jersey in the thirteenth edition of the IPL. However, due to the postponement of the tournament due to COVID-19 pandemic, fans will have to wait for a while to see Rashid back on the field. Former SRH head coach Tom Moody had also recently revealed that it was Rashid’s pace and consistency which attracted the franchise to snap him up in the auction. Moody also revealed that Rashid ticked every box in his first training session and the SRH head coach already knew in 20 minutes that they had picked a gem.
