Schools and educational centers will be reopened on August 05, as per the meeting’s decision, but with serious measures taken to make these places as safe as possible. The decision comes at times the country sees drop in coronavirus cases. Under the assessment of the Ministry of Public Health, it was decided that all educational institutions would be started again if the COVID-19 cases continued to remain low, according to the statement. As per the health ministry’s data, Afghanistan has recorded more than 34,000 infection cases since the outbreak as it registered 254 new lab-confirmed cases as of Wednesday. However, a total of 1,094 patients having been contracted with the disease have died and a total of 22,456 have recovered from the pandemic. The Afghan government earlier at beginning of the year announced a closure of schools, universities and educational centers in a bid to curb the spread of the highly contagious COVID-19 virus.
