First Cultural Event Held in Kabul After COVID-19 Lockdown

The first cultural event- a poetry reading-- was held in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul on Friday after six months of restrictions on large gatherings following the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
 
Dozens of people from various layers of the society along with poets and writers participated in the event and enjoyed poems, music and other cultural activities.
 
“I am very happy to take part in this program today,” said Ramin Raziq, a participant.
 
“I hope that the youth of the country get involved in peace programs and other programs related to culture,” said Shadab Gulzar, a participant.
 
Other attendees expressed hope that the complete defeat of the COVID-19 pandemic and the end of the war will improve things in the country.

“Holding such programs are useful for the youth and those associated to cultural activities,” said Shahla Hamidi, a resident in Kabul.
 
The event was hosted by Shahr-e-Ketab organization.
