The deadly Taliban attack on the Ghazni Public Protection Center was repulsed. The Afghan Interior Ministry says that until the Taliban first attacked Bam, they then wanted to carry out a group attack on the center, but the Taliban’s response was repulsed. Interior Ministry spokesman Tariq Arian said that the Taliban group carried out the car bomb attack at around 7:45 pm while the security forces were getting prepration for an operation. Mr. Arian added: “Taliban fighters launched a car attack in front of the entrance gate of the Ghazni Public Protection Unit meanwhile the insurgents were willing to launch a group attack on the mentioned military base, but the sevurity forces based in the military base resisted and the attack was pushed back by security forces. All insurgents were killed in action by Afghan forces.” Accoring to Mr. Arian: “They attackers were defeated when they were willing to enter this center.” However, the Afghan Ministry of Interior did not provide any information regarding the casualties resulting from this incident. Meanwhile, there are some unconfirmed reports from Ghazni city that at least 7 injured people have been taken to hospitals so far after the incidnet took place. The Afghan Ministry of Interior (MoI) announced this report while, the Afghan government had set up a consultative Loya Jirga in Kabul days ago with the participation of 3,200 people from all provinces of the country to release 400 prisoners. As the government is commited to have the views of the people’s representatives in this Jirga. But Taliban fighters have stepped up their attacks in response to the Afghan government’s peaceful efforts, with Afghan security forces reporting in various newsletters that more than 35 Taliban fighters have been killed in the past 24 hours.
