Top Indian Officials Welcomes U.S Special Envoy

U.S Special Envoy for Afghanistan reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad has met with Indian officials in Delhi on Tuesday, following the meeting with Pakistani officials.

Khalilzad held a meeting with India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

The envoy has reportedly said during the meeting that Afghanistan should ensure their territory is not used for terrorist activities in other countries.

Dialogues in the meeting reiterated, that the regional and international support for the success of Intra-afghan talks are important, and the U.S-Indian officials had similar views that long term facilitation, trades and investment for a better Afghanistan and region will be beneficial and that both countries will work on such objectives.

Also, both sides have deliberated upon promoting regional and international cooperation with regards to Afghanistan.

This comes at a time, when the Taliban and Afghan government agreed upon appointing contact persons and have released a first-time joint statement.
