Intra-Afghan Negotiations: Second round of direct talks in Doha

KABUL (SW) – Ghulam Farooq Majroh, a member of the Afghan government’s peace delegation, has said talks with the Taliban continued on Wednesday.

He told Salam Watandar the technical teams of the two sides continue to work on the agenda. Earlier, Mohammad Massoum Stanekzai, head of the Afghan delegation, urged the moot people in Afghanistan are longing for truce. He said in his remarks all members of the two teams have consensus for peace to prevail.

Mawlawi Abdul Hakeem, head of the Taliban delegation, said on his term a peaceful solution should be sought. He added the Taliban do not seek to gain power, but establish an Islamic system. He said the Taliban are determined for peace.

Separately, former head of the High Peace Council, Mohammad Karim Khalili told a moot to mark 19th death anniversary of the Jihadi figure Burhanuddin Rabbani that gains of the past 19 years must be secured.
