Repair work begins on sabotaged power lines leading to Kabul

15 Apr 2018 1TV News

Power supply workers have started repair work on a pylon in Baghlan that fell onto the ground after being bombed by militants before dawn yesterday.

The pylon, 38 kilometres from Baghlan capital Pul-i-Khumri, was supporting power lines from Uzbekistan to Kabul, Parwan, Maidan Wardak, Ghazni, Logar and Paktia.

This is the fourth outage in recent weeks caused by militant attacks on the power lines from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told AFP that the militant group had cut a cable in Baghlan province.

De Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), the country’s national power utility, said that its engineers were allowed to repair the pylon following mediation by elders.

The company did not say when the cables will be connected.
