The government of Afghanistan is seeking to hold an international conference of religious scholars to resolve the war through peaceful means.

The presence of Pakistani religious scholars is one the aims of Kabul government, the Ulema, who reportedly somehow back up the operations of radical groups – based in Pakistan – in Afghanistan’s territory.

“We hope Pakistani religious Ulemas like Mawlana Fazal Rahman and Mawlana Samiulhaq who consider Jihad legitimate in Afghanistan, attend the conference,” said Sayed Ehsan Tahiri, a spokesperson for high peace council.

Mawlana Fazal Rahman, a prominent religious scholar in Pakistan, said during the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Conservative Nationalist Assembly Party of Pakistan that the presence of NATO forces in Afghanistan justifies the insurgency of Taliban to continue the violence that country.

The party of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam led by Mawlana Fazal Rahman is also accused of having relations with extremist groups based in Pakistan.

The conference will give religious scholars the opportunity to find common ground on the war and peace in Afghanistan.
