15 May 2018 Afghanistan Times

AT News Report-KABUL: President Ghani in his Facebook page condemned on Tuesday the massacre of Palestinian civilians by Israeli troops and said that Jerusalem will be the capital of Palestine.

As the US is opening its embassy in Jerusalem, Israeli troops killed 58 Palestinian protesters on the Gaza border on Monday – amove that fueled Palestinian anger and drew much criticism.

US President Donald Trump had earlier declared Al Quds as the capital of Israel and said the US embassy would be shifted to Jerusalem. The United Nations and tens of other countries opposed the idea. Many Muslims staged protests around the globe.

The president denounced the killing of Palestinians and said that Al Quds was a holy place not only for Afghans but for all Muslims and followers of other religions. Ghani denounced the unilateral decision on Al Quds a violation of international law. He said Afghanistan had voiced its oppositionto the UN about the massacre.

The president said that reports about the Gaza situation, especially civilian casualties, had upset many. The president backed the Palestinian protestors’ demand for their legitimate rights.
