Recently, journalists of Badakhshan and Daikondi province in a protest boycotted to release the news which belongs to the government. Local journalists of Badakhshan said to Media Watch of Nai office that in a reaction to no response from governmental authorities and no access to information, have boycotted to cover the news related to local government’s activities.

In a protest conference, they issued a resolution for the status of journalism profession which is worrying in this province and wanted the defenders of journalists’ right to pay attention to these concerns. Meanwhile, local journalists of Daikondi in the same protest announced that after this they won’t cover the news which belongs to the government.

A journalist from Daikondi in contact with Media Watch of Nai office said that local authorities of this province have always tried to conceal the facts by creating the environment of intimidation, humiliation and insult.

Journalists in Daikondi province after the insult and humiliation of the Rah Farda TV and Nasim Radio by the head of the provincial population registry office announced during a news conference in Nilli city that they have cut off their relationship with local government.

Nai Supporting the Open Media in Afghanistan believes in it that journalist institutions have the right to commit civil disobedience which would cause a boycott but this should not endamage the free flow of information as damage to the free flow of information is against the constitution and law of access to information.

Afghan government should not provide the opportunity of boycotting the news related to local authorities but when if it is so then the Afghan government itself is the culprit.

It should be noted that recently access to information thus the security is a serious challenge and obstacle to the information platform of Afghanistan.
