AT-KABUL: Security would be tightened ahead of Eid-al-Fitr festival, in which security institutions would be on high alert to provide safe and sound environment for the Afghan masses to enjoy Eid Days, security official said Wednesday.

Security forces will put in place elaborate security measures during Eid in a bid to enable people to celebrate the occasion peacefully, the official added. After the Taliban’s announcement of ceasefire, reciprocating government’ move, the possibility of peaceful Eid is emerging ever before.

Spokesman for the Minister of Interior, Najib Danish said security forces have been placed on high alert to ensure security of upcoming Eid Days.

There would be no off days, Danish said, adding police officers, including public order police, intelligence operatives, and traffic police would be on duty during Eid days to facilitate people.

“Police would apply all-out efforts to maintain security in the cities, mosques, highways, entertainment parks, and other areas with sole aim of ensuring peace for the Afghans,” he added.

However, people’s cooperation is a must in regard, Danish said, referring to security tightened. “Sans people’s cooperation this would be failed.” People’s cooperation is key to reinforce proper security, he added, saying in case of any suspicion surroundings or uncertain situation, general masses should report to the police.

To reach people’s concern without flinching, emergency call numbers, including 119 and 100 will be active 24 hours, he added. He also informed of legal action to be taken against shopkeepers selling cracker toys to the children and also to teenagers found at fault.

Danish called upon families to encourage their children not to use crackers, as it causes injuries to them, beside people’s stalking.
