India showed no mercy at the newest Test playing nation as the No.1 Test side bundled out the Afghanistan team twice in a day to wrap up the Test match in only two days. Early on day 2, the Indians were bowled out for 474 in their first innings adding 127 runs to their overnight score of 347/6 in the morning session.

The Indian bowlers were too tough for the inexperienced side, as a result, the Afghans were bowled for 109 in their first innings in a single session. They didn’t last any longer in the 2nd innings either and were bowled out for only 103 runs thus suffering a huge defeat by an innings and 262 runs.

All the stats and numbers that were registered during India’s record win over the Test debutants:

1 – India became the first Asian team to win a Test match in just two days. This Test is also only the 2nd Test match in Asia to be completed in just two days. The Pakistan-Australia Test in 2002 hosted by Sharjah was concluded in two days.

2 – Afghanistan got all out twice on day two which is only the 4th instance of a team getting bowled twice in a single day’s play. The Indian team was knocked out twice on the 3rd day of the 1952 Manchester Test against England while Zimbabwe were wrapped twice on day two of the 2005 Harare Test and 2012 Napier Test against New Zealand.

24 – A total of 24 wickets fell on the 2nd day of this Test which is the most in a single day of a Test in 116 years and also the most in a Test in Asia. 27 wickets fell on the 2nd day of 1888 Lord’s Test, 25 wickets on the opening day of 1902 MCG Test and 24 in 1896 the Oval Test on day two; all those three matches were played between England and Australia.

103/10 – Afghanistan’s totals of 103 and 109 in this Test match are the lowest team totals in Test cricket in Bangalore. The previous lowest Test total at this venue is 112 by Australia against India in 2017.

Stats: Rashid Khan & Co turn expensive on their first outing

103 – Umesh Yadav became the 22nd player and the 8th pacer to take 100 wickets for India in Test cricket.

212 – The 212 runs Afghanistan aggregated in this Test are the fewest by any side against India in a Test match. The previous lowest Test match aggregate for any team against India was 230 runs by England in the 1986 Leeds Test.
