Election Commission officials say 50 percent of the electoral materials have been transferred to the country, saying the process of transferring the materials will continue for ten days.

The deputy to the election commission spokesman Abdul Aziz Ibrahimi told media outlets that 50 percent of the electoral materials for over 10,000 polling stations have been transferred to the country.

According to Ibrahimi, the election commission intends to transfer the sensitive materials of the election to 21,011 polling stations throughout the country by October 20.

The sensitive election materials include ink, booths, ballot boxes, and stationary stuff.

Meanwhile, the IEC said the materials are imported to the country to prevent frauds. The election commission officials had said the ballot papers are printed in Dubai, but it is not clear from which countries these materials are imported to Afghanistan.

“ballot papers do not include these shipments as the printing of these papers have not been completed yet,” Mr. Ibrahimi added.

The parliamentary and district elections are due to be held on 20 October 2018.
