Ministry of Mines and Petroleum (Signing MoU between MoMP and CORDAID)

Kabul, Afghanistan: Today Nargis Nehan Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum had a  joint press conference with CORDAID organization on (Signing MoU between MoMP and CORDAID) at the Government Media and Information Center (GMIC) this afternoon.
Nargis Nehan said that by signing this memorandum, people in 34 provinces of the country are given the necessary information on the rights and importance of their role in monitoring the implementation of projects related to mining.
Minister Nehan emphasized the importance of the role of people in monitoring the implementation of mine projects, according to the law; people play a key role in the process of monitoring the implementation of mining projects.
Ministry of Mines and Petroleum singed a MoU with CORDIAD organization, a non-profit Netherland entity, to increase public awareness on mines.
Nargis Nehan: the main goal of signing this MoU is ensuring rights of miners and empowerment of women, youths and local people who are displaced as a result of mining activities.
She also added that CORDIAD supports Ministry of Mines and Petroleum in strengthening the social contract between the government and the citizens in the field of mines extractions through better coordination and information sharing.
She also emphasized  the importance of the role of people in monitoring the implementation of mine projects, according to the law, people plays an essential role in monitoring and implementation of mining projects and, if they are not aware, they can not properly use their rights and they do not understand their importance.
