An explosion went off in Afghanistan's southern Helmand province on Thursday, injuring at least three people, an official said.

The blast was caused by explosives in a car in Sola Square in Lashkargah city, the provincial governor's office said.

It is yet to be clear whether it was triggered by a magnetic bomb or a suicide attacker.

Two of the injured were in the car while another was a passerby.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombing.
