10 couples enter wedlock at Badakhshan mass marriage

FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): Ten young couples tied the knot at a mass marriage ceremony arranged by traders and the Information and Cultural Affairs Department in northeastern Badakhshan province and traders.

At the ceremony held in Faizabad, the provincial capital, relatives and friends of the couples were in attendance.

Naqibullah Saqibyar, director of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, thanked the businessmen for their cooperation in the mass marriage event and playing their part.

Mohammad Hassan one of the grooms, said he was happy that they spent no money on their wedding. He said those who spent heavily on weddings should instead help poor couples.

Saadullah Abu Aman, head of the Badakhshan Ulema Council, said the mass marriage for poor and less fortunate couples was an Islamic ritual and those cooperated in making this possible would be rewarded.
