Lists of Voters for 19 Provinces Approved & Finalized

Head of Independent Election Commission (IEC) in a news conference yesterday said that based on IEC decision, list of voters of 19 provinces has been approved and would be visible in polling centers.

Speaking to journalists, the IEC chairman Abdul Babey Sayad said:  “List of voters of 19 provinces including Kabul, Nooristan, Daikundi, Kapisa, Urozgan, Parwan, Badakhshan, Faryab, Paktia, Wardak, Jawzjan, Helmand, Paktika, Takhar, Nangarhar, Herat, Kunar, Baghlan and Ghor has been approved in an open session in presence of electoral observers and organizations, civil society and media.”

He added that for further transparency and clearance of characteristics of voters, the commission recorded the voters’ characteristic in database, asking the people to make use of a single vote which is their legal right as the commission is committed to holding transparent elections.

Related to sticking list of voters up in polling centers, head of the commission said those having complaints in this regard should share their protest with Electoral Complaints Commission (ECC) as all lists of voters were sent to the respective commission.

Previously, IEC had approved and declared lists of voters of 14 provinces that included Bamyan, Khost, Nimroz, Balkh, Panjshir, Laghman, Sar-e-Pul, Samangan, Zabul, Kandahar, Kunduz, Badghis, Logar and Farah.

The only province where election process has been stopped is Ghazni.
