Pakistan renews support for Afghanistan’s stability

13 Oct 2018 Pajhwok Afghan News

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan has renewed full support for peace and stability in Afghanistan, promising cooperation with a regional initiative to help the country combat militant-linked violence.

Addressing the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Tajikistan on Friday, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said establishing peace was central to sustained international trade.

He said SCO members could benefit from Pakistan's experience in fighting terrorism. "Pakistan has played an important role in combating terrorism and extremism," Qureshi said, calling regional conflicts and terrorism a major challenge.

SCO was a vital platform to achieve security and stability across Eurasia, he said, stressing the need for strengthening peace in an increasingly tense international environment.
