Based on reports that Nai found telecommunication networks are disrupted since 24 hours in Badghais province due to armed groups’ threats and only a network works in some areas in Qala-e-Naw city center of the province.

And as well electricity was cut off since 2 days, amongst 4 private radio stations only 2 of them are active and have broadcast in the province apparently the other two are inactive due to no electricity.

In accordance to Nai’s belief, telecommunication networks inactiveness have disturbed free flow of information. Abdul Mujeeb Khalvatgar, Managing Director Nai Supporting Open Media in Afghanistan said; interruption of electricity and inactiveness of telecommunication networks have disturbed free flow of information and residents of  Badghais province are deprived of access to information.

Mr. Khalvatgar said: “On the basis of law it is the task of government to pave the ground for access to information and now due to interruption of electricity and inactiveness of telecommunication networks, Badghais’s residents don’t have access to information and they are unaware of incidents which occur around them and government is responsible to put efforts and pave the ground for telecommunication networks in the province so that they may restart their activity.”

Nai Supporting Open Media in Afghanistan emphasized that on the basis of law Afghanistan’s government is responsible to put efforts and facilitate them the ground in order to restart their activities in Badghais so that the residents may have access to their legal right of information.
