President Ghani Meets Authorities from Different Countries in Geneva

On the sidelines of the Geneva Conference, President M. Ashraf Ghani met with officials from different countries as well as some heads of the international organizations.

President Ghani met with the Iranian Foreign Minister M. Jawad Zarif, the US’s Assistance Secretary of state David Hill, the Indian Minister of state for external affairs Vijay Kumar, and the president of the international committee of the red cross (ICRC).
Mr Ghani discussed various issues, including peace talks with armed oppositions of the Afghan government.

During a meeting with the Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. M. Jawad Zarif, president Ghani discussed economic cooperation and expansion of relations between Afghanistan and Iran, intra-Afghan peace talks and elections.
“regional and world cooperation, including Iran, is important in peace talks,” he said.
On his side, the Iranian Foreign Minister supported Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace talks, saying his country is ready for any kind of cooperation with Afghanistan in the fight against terrorism and extremism.

Mohammed Ashraf Ghani met with US Deputy Secretary of State for political affairs David Hill on the sideline of the Geneva conference.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace talks, funding and equipping the security and defense forces, elections, and the US cooperation with Afghanistan in various areas.
President Ghani said that peace and stability are a fundamental demand of the people of Afghanistan and that politicians and representatives of various segments have consensus on the leadership and ownership of the peace process, and that this consensus is based on the constant support of the people of Afghanistan.

Mohammad Ashraf Ghani also met with the Indian Minister of state for external affairs Vijay Kumar and discussed Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace talks, elections, and the expansion of relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, president Ghani said the ground for peace is ready more than ever and Afghanistan needs the cooperation of strategic partners and regional countries in this regard.
He added that a stable and advanced Afghanistan has a strategic value for the stability and development of regional economic cooperation in the region.
On his part, the Indian Minister of State for External Affairs said his country is ready to work for peace, stability, and progress in Afghanistan.
