HRW’s Report about Khalid Released under Influence of Regional Intelligence: Wolesi Jirga

International rights group Human Rights Watch (HRW) has urged major donors to impose sanctions on Afghanistan’s newly appointed acting defense minister over alleged war crimes and human rights abuses.

“Credible evidence of serious human rights abuses and war crimes linked to Khalid have followed him throughout his government career,” Human Rights Watch (HRW) said in a report published on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the speaker of the House of Representatives Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi said recent operations by the Afghan Defense Ministry against the insurgents have had favorable results.

“Increasing operations against the insurgents will definitely force Taliban to come to the negotiating table,” said Ibrahimi at the session of the House of Representatives (Wolesi Jirga).

Arif Rahmani, a representative from Ghazni province appreciated the recent measures taken by the country’s Defense Ministry against the armed oppositions.

“These measures were taken by the new leader of the National Defense Ministry at a time when the survival of government and democracy was seriously threatened,” he added. “the country’s citizens support recent actions of the Defense Ministry and stand with the Ministry”.

Mr Rahmani described the recent report of the HRW as “baseless”, adding that “the report was prepared in cooperation with the intelligence services of the regional countries, particularly Pakistan”.
