15 Taliban killed in Ghazni clash, blast

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Fifteen Taliban insurgents, including a key commander, have been killed during security operations and as a result of bomb blast in southern Ghazni province, an official said on Thursday.

Lt. Col. Mohammad Farooq Roshanmal, spokesman for 203rd Thunder Military Corps, told Pajhwok Afghan News a clash erupted between Afghan security forces and Taliban militants in 2nd police district of Ghazni City, the provincial capital late on Wednesday night.

He said 11 rebels, including notorious commander Mullah Izatullah, were killed as a result of night raid. He did not provide information about security personnel casualties.

Elsewhere, four militants were killed as a result of their own bomb blast in Jaghato district, said Roshanmal.

Mohammad Arif Noori, the governor’s spokesman, rejected firefight between rebels and security forces in 2nd police district but said it happened in 3rd.

He said the militants were pushed back and no side suffered casualties in the overnight clash.

Taliban have not yet commented on the incidents.
