In a bid for preventing possible fraud in upcoming presidential election, Attorney General’s Office released a travel ban on five senior IEC officials, as they started taking some precautionary measures on electoral fraud.

In a letter the Office sent to security departments of the country, wrote, "In order to adopt a precautionary measures on viable electoral fraud, the Attorney General's Office hereby releases travel ban order on five senior IEC officials from the country until further notice of the office:"

Awal-ur-Rahman Rodwal, Former Chief Operational Affairs

Abdul Aziz Samim, Deputy Chief to Operational Affairs

Sayed Ibrahim Sadat, Head of Information Technology

It comes after the Attorney General's Office had banned at least 12 former commissioners of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) and Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) charged with electoral frauds.

Later then, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani approved the amendment of the electoral law on February 20, based on which the presidential candidates picked new members for IEC and IECC, including heads of secretariat to both commissions.
