2 Police Shot Dead in North

Balkh (The Killid) – At least two members of the Afghan National Police have been killed in a couple different operations in North Afghanistan, provincial security officials said.

Adel Shah Adel, Balkh police spokesman, said to the killed, "Mohammad Nasim Ahmadi, a local police officer, is shot dead, as he attempted to take down an armed brigand at PD5 of Mazar-e-Sharif City.

According to Adel, the suspect has been arrested wounded at the scene.

Meanwhile, in similar case, another member of Afghan security forces has been shot dead by a number of unidentified armed men in Dehdadi district of the Balk city.

The provincial police, however, did not release details on the incident.

It comes after residents lodged complaints to local police stations on the increasing number of causalities inflicted during robbery extortions and similar cases in the province, as they urge to double its manpower to adopt precautionary measures on possible threats of armed robbers.
