Fig Import Expended Abroad

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of Afghanistan has announced that during the year, $ 47million dry figs have been exported from Afghanistan to India, UAE, Asia and Canada countries.

Engineer Edress Zelal director of horticulture of irrigation and livestock  department of Herat said, fig production will reach to 5652 this year and the cultivated fig trees areas will reaches to 1835 acres of land in Herat province that more is the area under the  cultivation of fig trees gardens in Zendajan and Anjeel districts.

Mr. Zelal continues, fruit fig as one of tasty fruits has been able to have a good place among its consumers, and its sells at a very high price than to other fruits.

Meanwhile the Herat provincial agriculture department is working to achieve more fruit harvest and has provided facilities for fig producers, and also it has done activities to provide the fig trees sales opportunities on the market.

Herat with its good climate has a great place in cultivating cultivars and diversity, fortunately, figs are one of the most prominent fruits in this province.
