Salim Farahi of Public Works Assassinated

Farah (The Killid) – Mohammad Salim Farahi, Head of Public Work directorate in Farah has been assassinated in Southwest province of Afghanistan, local officials confirmed.

Muhibullhah Muhib, provincial police spokesman, said to the killed, "The incident happened early morning nearing Abunasr Farahi School at PD1 of Farah city."

According to Muhib, motivation behind the target so far is not clear, but the police has started investigation that leads to the suspects, who succeeded escaping the crime scene.

It comes after a local journalist has suffered severe injuries after being targeted in an IED explosion in Helmand Tuesday, which lead to a widespread concern over the safety of provincial governmental officials.

Residents claim government weaknesses a major factor of the ongoing insecurities and threats.
