The Afghan prodigy Rashid Khan is known to be the best bowler for his national side, at just the age of 20. The right-arm leg spinner is now excited to learn that he’s being deemed as an all-rounder as well. Playing against the Rajasthan Royals on Friday, March 29, at Hyderabad the Sunrisers were chasing a gigantic target of 199.

The left-handed opener David Warner‘s innings of 69 gave SRH the fancied start but the start was slowed down by Shreyas Gopal’s who hit two strikes to bring the Royals back into the game. The duties of the chase was ultimately brought down to Yusuf Pathan and Rashid. Both batsmen remained not out as they completed the chase for the hosts.

While Yusuf hit a 12-ball 16, it was Rashid’s cameo of 8-ball 15 which accelerated their run to the target. The 20-year-old controlled and finished the chase with the helicopter shot, which is the signature stroke of Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni.

Feels good to be called an all-rounder, says Rashid

When asked about the ‘helicopter shot’ that he hit to end the chase, Rashid Khan told Cricbuzz: “Before coming out to the wicket, I was fed up and I was thinking how it would be if I hit the winning shot for six and that’s like a helicopter shot. It was happening in my mind. I was repeating those things in my mind that I will hit this if I get the opportunity to go there and play.”

The leg-spinner further added that he always rated himself as a good batsman but never got the chance to prove his batting skills.  He smashed the Barbadian pacer Jofra Archer for the much talk of SIX which thrilled the fans as he pulled off the trademark shot by MS Dhoni.

“It feels good to be called an all-rounder. I have been always working hard on my batting. When I came to the national side in 2016, I was telling Inzamam bhai (then Afghanistan coach) that I was a proper batsman, but he was not believing that. I had that thing in my mind that I will work hard and I have the skill. I just need to be working hard on my batting. One day will come and I can be very handy for the team,” Rashid concluded.
