KABUL: The Ministry of Agriculture Irrigation and Livestock

(MAIL) on Tuesday said it has signed agreements with construction companies for

construction of 31 new irrigation networks in eight provinces.

These projects would be implemented in Kabul, Nangarhar,

Kunar, Herat, Balkh, Baghlan, Parwan and Logar provinces.

According to the statement, MAIL Minister Nasir Ahmad Durani

said the irrigation systems would cost over 471 million Afs.

According to him, through these irrigation networks at least

1,1454 hectares of lands would be irrigated and through over 8,000 families and

farmers would be benefited.

Besides controlling wasting of waters, these networks would

help farmers to have more harvest with better quality, he noted.

This would also create over 100 job opportunities for the

people in the respective provinces.

These irrigation systems will be completed till end of

current year with core aim of bolstering up people’s economy and reduce poverty

in these provinces, he added.
